The Getty/Gallery at Flat Rock Challenge

We may be stuck at home, but that doesn’t mean our creative talents can’t continue to roam free through the wild backwoods of our imagination. 

Enter the Getty Museum Challenge and The Gallery at Flat Rock.

The genesis for the project was a tweet sent out by the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles last month asking individuals self-isolating at home to recreate their favorite pieces of artwork. But there was a catch: Participants were instructed to make their masterpieces using everyday household items.

Suzanne Camarata, owner of The Gallery at Flat Rock, was intrigued and inspired recently by the Challenge and has led the charge to encourage locals to take up the Getty gauntlet.

Several creative local residents responded to Suzanne’s request with ingenuity, creativity, and a healthy dose of humor - clearly making good use of their extra free time and some of the odds and ends we tend to collect around our homes.

Are you up to the challenge? Feeling inspired? Put down the remote. Back away from the TV …and release the creative genius currently ensconced on your couch wearing sweat pants and binging on The Bachelor.
