Welcome to Flat Rock Together
This Week’s Good News Blog Post:
This Week’s Reflection …
This week, a small circle of friends gathered to share a meal in Flat Rock. The evening was alight with laughter, the kind that spills over from fond memories occasionally punctuated by sighs over life’s inevitable sorrows. During the course of the evening, there was a kind of alchemy that turned the simple act of being together into a profound connection that nourishes and uplifts the soul.
Friendship is the invisible thread that weaves together the fabric of a rewarding life. Good friends are our refuge, our sounding boards, the ones we turn to when the world feels too heavy or too light. In them, we find the solace we seek, the exuberance we crave, and the silent understanding that words alone cannot express. Friends are the keepers of our stories, the witnesses to our joys and sorrows, the ones who celebrate our triumphs and mourn our losses with a depth that only comes from shared history.
A wise friend once reminded me that while the place we call home holds its own importance, it is the people we surround ourselves with that truly make it sacred. Our friends transform a place into a sanctuary and our souls are made whole by these invaluable connections.
And so, that shared meal became a testament to the enduring power of friendship—a gentle reminder that no matter where we are, it is the love and loyalty of our friends that make all the difference.

In June of 1906, Thomas Alva Edison visited Henderson County and stayed at the Blue Ridge Inn on the corner of Main Street and Third Avenue West in downtown Hendersonville. The purpose of Edison’s visit, however, was not to enjoy the bucolic pleasures of an emerging mountain resort village. Indeed, Edison had his inventor’s eyes on a community in the southern part of Henderson County known – in no small part because of Edison’s decades-long interest – as Zirconia.
